Borghese gallery, sculptures and paintings

The villa belonged to the cardinal scipione borghese, the favorite nephew of the pope paolo the 5th. Scipione realized his maison in the 17th century where he exposed his collection of paintings, (somethime stolen) an statues.

Inside the marvelous decorations in an elegant neo classical stile create an ephemeral balance with the dynamism of the baroque statues and the strong realism of Caravaggio’s paintings.

We’ll spend spend about two hours discovering the villa, on the groundflor we will enjoy the collection of statues commissioned by the Cardinal Scipione to Bernini, a collection of empirial age art, the collection of caravaggio’s paintings.

On the 1st floor there is the pinacotecaca, paintings realized by different schools of artists, works by artists such as Rafael, Rubens and Titian.

P.S. the prices can improve due to temporary expositions… till the 20th of february there will be an exibition about Bernini (father and son) so the ticket will be about 20 euros.
