Baroque Rome – Squares and fountains

What you can expect: a relaxing walk through the city, admiring masterpieces of the baroque art, discovering caravanggio’s paintings  in St. Luigi dei francesi’ church, recognizing the grandiosity and the engineering capacity of imperial Rome with the Pantheon.

Itinerary: we will start at the bottom of Piazza di Spagna, the famous staircase of Spanish Steps leading to Trinita' dei Monti. At its feet you will see the Barcaccia: the famous boat-shaped fountain designed by Pietro Bernini and the young son Gian Lorenzo.

Than you will arrive at Trevi Fountain, the Baroque style fountain where, as the legend says, you can toss the coin to ensure that you will one day return to Rome!

Almost halfway up Via del Corso, the principal Roman street, is the Piazza Colonna with the column of Marcus Aurelius. On the square, you'll find Chigi Palace, the minister’s office. On the opposite side of Via del Corso is the Colonna Gallery. Montecitorio Palace at the square close by with the same name, is the headquartes of the Chamber of Deputies.

With a short walk we’ll reach the Pantheon, the best preserved temple of Ancient Rome and one of the most beautiful, dedicated to all the divinities, consacrated as a christian church to St. Mary of the martyrs in 609 AD.

Next we’ll see the church St. Luigi dei Francesi where we’ll have the pleasure to admire paintings realized by caravaggio.

At last as a great final discovering the Navona square and the Bernini's masterpiece fountain, the Four Rivers Fountain.
